Imagination Connoisseur, Joshua Levesque, was excited to learn about Disney and Lucasfilm’s plans for the next big phase of the Star Wars franchise. It’s known as THE HIGH REPUBLIC and it looks awesome!

Hey Rob and fellow viewers,

I just want to thank you for such a great online environment that you’ve cultivated with your show ROBSERVATIONS.

I’ve seen the new High Republic book/comic announcement trailer and I’ve gotta say, I’m thrilled. Not so much because I’m into reading books or comics, but because I feel like this is an extension of the thoughtfulness, effort, and creativity they’re putting into the highly rumored High Republic movie trilogy.

I’m guessing that this book and comic initiative coincides with the trilogy they have planned. After all, Lucasfilm still has three Star Wars movies slated for 2022, 2024, and 2026 release dates.

I honestly believe that Lucasfilm has heard the loud outcry from fans about the lack of planning behind the sequel trilogy and this is their first step in correcting that. I know it’s just a 4-minute video, but I’m already impressed.

First off, the artwork of the High Republic era Jedi, the Sith-looking designs from Darth Maul artist Ian McCaig, and the space-Vikings, “The Nihil”, all looks incredible! If you carefully look at the video, the group lists “Sith Empire” under “Star Wars Wishes” on a white board for the High Republic books and comics.

It would be really cool to see a bunch of Sith in their heyday, like in the STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPLUBLIC video game cinematics. However, it wouldn’t make much sense canonically given that Ki-Adi-Mundi said that the Sith has been extinct for a millennium in STAR WARS: EPISODE I – THE PHANTOM MENACE (SW:TPM).

There’s also this grand event they’re calling The Great Disaster that will be the beginning of a lot of the High Relublic stories, and I’m guessing the movie trilogy. I know it’s just a book and comic project, but aside from the one canon issue, it gives me hope for the future of Star Wars on the big screen.

What are your thoughts on all of this?

Thanks for reading my letter and may the Force be with you!
