Imagination Connoisseur, Jason Webster, calls YOUR EYES TELL one of Japans best movies from 2020. He says it’s a “must see” for more than one reason.
Mei Kaori (Yoshitaka Yuriko) is a young woman whose blindness was caused by a traffic accident. However, she doesn’t let her disability define her as she appreciates life and the small pleasures it still affords her. This despite the fact she has also lost her family in the accident.
She meets former kickboxer Rui (Yokohama Ryusei) who has disassociated himself from society. Kaori’s infectious personality rubs off on Rui and a deep relationship begins to blossom between them. Rui learns of his connection to her accident and takes upon himself to set things right for Kaori.
Directed by Takahiro Miki, the strength of this film is the good performances and chemistry between leads Yoshitaka Yuriko and Yokohama Ryusei. The film achieved a rating of 8.9 out of 10 on IMDB.
