Check out a Star Trek space battle unlike anything you’ve ever seen before!

Robert Meyer Burnett, continues to deconstruct his experience on the failed, Star Trek fan film project, AXANAR. In this mini-documentary, RMB runs down the work behind the film’s opening credits as well as the first big battles between Federation and Klingon warships, including a beat-down by the USS Ares.

A still-frame from the animatic for the shot shown in the keyframe for the video, above.

RMB narrates the footage, providing his insights into how the shots were imagined and then created (and polished) by noted VFX wizard, Tobias Richter and his team at The Light Works.

The visual effects shots in this mini-documentary feature both animatics and finished effects shots of the USS Ajax and USS Ares taking on Klingon D6 battlecruisers as well as boards explaining how the film’s opening credits would work. The mini-documentary wraps up with all of the analyzed shots edited together to the opening credits soundtrack composed by Alexander Borenstein.

According to Rob, there is still more footage to share at a later date as part of the on-going, “Deconstructing AXANAR” series on The Burnettwork.

Stay tuned …
